Description

The US & China at a Turning Point: Trade, Tech, and the Trump Administration

In celebration of the Johns Hopkins SAIS 75th Anniversary, please join us for a special evening with SAIS Dean, Vali Nasr, and SAIS Professors Andrew Mertha, David Bulman, and Thomas Rid as they discuss the state of U.S.-China relations as it pertains to politics, trade, and cybersecurity.

Over the course of the past few years, major shifts in policy have developed between the U.S. and China. The Trump Administration has taken a more aggressive approach than prior administrations in confronting China on issues spanning across politics, trade, and cyber secruity. In China, Xi Jingping's administration has a set in motion major changes that are a departure from the past many years. What is the long term impact of both Xi's and Trump's policy shifts? How might the shifting dynamic between the two countries affect the greater world order?

Reception from 5:30-6:15pm (light drinks and appetizers will be served. Cash bar). The talk/panel discussion will begin promptly at 6:15pm.
